National Physical Education & Sports Week is May 1 – May 7. Promoted by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, this is a week that the U.S., schools around the nation and Chapa-De are promoting healthy lifestyles and exercise.

At Chapa-De, we encourage all of our patients to live healthy lives, taking care of their bodies and their minds. To do so, we need to remember to exercise, and to educate and motivate our children to exercise too.

Why exercise?

Because it will keep you young and healthy! It is that simple.

Exercising can help prevent:

  • Obesity
  • Arthritis and other joint problems
  • Stiffness in our neck, back and limbs
  • Lowers chances of diabetes and other health conditions

A great way to exercise is through sports. Whether it is basketball in your backyard or joining a school soccer team, sports make exercise fun and effective. They promote routine exercising and practice, making us stronger physically and mentally.

And that is key – ROUTINE.

We cannot go to the gym once and expect results, we need to make physical activity a part of our everyday life.

We know it is not always easy to get out there and start playing a new a sport, running miles, or lifting weights at the gym – it takes time. It’s also important to consult with your Chapa-De Medical Care Team about what physical activities are safe for you to take part in before starting a new physical exercise routine.

At Chapa-De, our team is ready to talk to you about making healthier choices. We offer weekly Health & Wellness Classes and encourage you to take advantage of them. Click HERE to see our calendar.
