Special Event: No-Cost Breast Cancer Screenings

Special Event: No-Cost Breast Cancer Screenings

Ensuring Women’s Health In Our Community

Next month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we are excited to bring special resources to the women of our communities. We encourage our patients to take control of their wellbeing with yearly exams and it is our goal to make that easier. That’s why we are proud to partner with Strokes 4 Hope to bring a mobile Mammogram unit to Chapa-De. During a two-day health event in October, patients aged 50-73 can receive a no-cost breast cancer screening mammogram at our Auburn location. Patients aged 40-49 may schedule with a provider’s order.

Bringing Screenings to Our Community

Did you know? Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among American women. A Mammogram is a yearly exam to identify breast cancer. It is the best way to find breast cancer early, even before a patient has any signs or symptoms. Breast Cancer can be easier to treat if it is found early.

Chapa-De recommends yearly screening mammograms for women beginning at age 50.We also encourage women between the ages of 40 and 49 to talk to your provider to see if a Mammogram Screening is right for you. Age 40 is also the age recommended for transgender males prior to a bilateral mastectomy or post breast reduction. If you have a family history of Breast Cancer or are high-risk, you may need to begin screenings earlier. For transgender women, it is recommended to begin at age 50 or after 5 years of hormone treatment, no matter her age.

Chapa-De does not regularly have Mammogram equipment at our clinics. Strokes 4 Hope, a local charitable organization, is sponsoring a special mobile mammogram coach that is outfitted with private rooms with mammogram machines to visit Chapa-De. This special service will help bring awareness to our patients about their health status and educate about the signs of breast cancer.

We will be hosting the Mobile Mammogram Events at the end of October. Appointments are required. Patients can register by calling the Chapa-De Medical Department at 530-887-2800.
