Back to School Prep (Immunizations)
Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley
It is that time of year again. Our children are getting ready to go back to school and we are working hard to make sure they are prepared. Back-to-school lists include pencil boxes, backpacks, lunch pails, and more. But as you begin to prepare for the school year ahead, remember that vaccinations should be on your list too.
Why is getting vaccinated important before the school year begins?
Schools are easy places for germs to spread. Children of all ages move between classrooms, jungle gyms, and cafeterias, forgetting to wash their hands. Classroom doorknobs are constantly touched as children come in from recess. This spreads germs and puts children at risk of getting sick.
As a teacher, it is hard to monitor the behavior of a classroom of children, teach them various subjects, and still remember to ask children to wash their hands, cover their nose when they sneeze, or cover their mouth when they cough. That is why it is up to parents to get their children vaccinated and protect their health during the school year.
What vaccinations should my child have?
Depending on the age of your child, they may or may not up to date on certain vaccinations.
Vaccinations include:
- Flu vaccine
- Tdap vaccine
- HPV vaccine
- Meningococcal vaccine
- Hepatitis vaccine
- Chickenpox vaccine
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccines
- Learn more about all of the vaccines HERE.
Questions about insurance?
Just like any other visit to the doctor’s office, parents have questions about insurance and payment when it comes to getting their child vaccinated. Not to worry. At Chapa-De we offer vaccinations to our patients as part of their primary medical care.
The Vaccines for Children Program also helps American Indian and Alaska Natives, those eligible for Medicaid, the uninsured, and the underinsured get their children the vaccinations that they need.
Where can I go to get my child vaccinated?
At Chapa-De we offer FREE vaccinations for children 18 and under.
