National Immunization Awareness Month

Every August, National Immunization awareness month is held to highlight the importance of vaccination for not only children, but for patients of all ages. Getting vaccinated is an easy way for you and your family to stay healthy all year round.

Different Stages of Life and their Vaccinations

Infants & Children

  • By age two, babies receive vaccinations that help protected them against 14 different diseases. By vaccinating your babies, you reduce their risk of getting sick while also reducing the chance of other babies getting sick as well.

Pre-Teens & Teens

  • By making sure all vaccines are up-to-date, parents and their teens can make sure they have the proper protection against vaccine preventable diseases such as HPV.

Pregnant Women

  • Women who are pregnant should be up-to-date on all their vaccines before becoming pregnant and should receive a whooping cough vaccine during pregnancy. This can prevent you from passing diseases on to your baby after birth.
  • Contact Chapa-De Auburn for any questions you may have regarding vaccines during pregnancy.

Adults

  • Your age, career, travel, health status, vaccination history and other risk factors, will determine what vaccines you may need as an adult. Speak with your medical care team to find out what they recommend for you.

It is also important for patients of all ages to receive a flu vaccination prior to the start of the flu season in October to help you stay healthy. Anybody over the age of 2 years old should get a flu shot every year.
