Breast Cancer Screenings Can Save Your Life. Mammogram Events at Chapa-De

Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic

Chapa-De Indian Health is excited to be hosting mammogram breast cancer screening events this March at both our Auburn and Grass Valley health centers! Mammograms can sometimes be difficult to access because patients must travel to locations that have special equipment. Fortunately, with the support of California Health & Wellness, a special mobile mammogram unit will travel to Chapa-De to provide mammograms to help our patients receive this important screening that can save lives.

What is a Mammogram?

A mammogram is an x-ray of the breast. It can help show signs of breast cancer. Having this exam done regularly can help your medical provider identify breast cancer early. Sometimes even years before it can be felt by other breast cancer screenings. Every year more people are surviving breast cancer thanks to early detection and advances in treatment options.

Who Should Get Mammograms?

Depending on age, women are often encouraged to get a mammogram every other year. But every person is different. Women who are of average risk for breast cancer should talk to their medical provider about when they should start getting mammograms, and how often they should get them.

Typically, it is recommended that:

  • Women ages 50 to 74 years old should get a mammogram every other year
  • Women ages 40 to 49 years should talk to their doctors
