Chapa-De Introduces: New Lactation Support Groups
Everyone says it comes naturally, that baby will latch as soon as she is laid on your chest after being born. You think it will be easy because everyone says it is. You think you will love every part of it because they say you will. But what happens when the real deal doesn’t hold up to the stories? Many new parents feel alone, like they aren’t doing it right or that something is wrong with them.
There is nothing wrong with you. Breastfeeding and chestfeeding don’t come easy and is sometimes near impossible, especially without guidance from a lactation expert. Now with new services and programs, we can help make this journey easier.
Expecting and lactating parents can look forward to two new classes that will soon be offered at the Auburn and Grass Valley locations of Chapa-De. These groups for established patients bring together new and expecting parents with community lactation consultants dedicated to making the baby-feeding journey a little bit easier.
Lactation Support Group:
Once a month, breastfeeding parents are welcome to come and meet other parents in their community to share their lactation experiences. A lactation consultant will be present for guidance and support to help parents adjust to breastfeeding and make it a more positive experience for both them and baby.
3rd Trimester Lactation Class:
Pregnant patients in their third trimester are invited to learn the basics of breastfeeding and meet other expectant parents in the same life journey. These sessions will be led by Chapa-De’s own lactation specialist and will teach the principles of breastfeeding including what breastfeeding is, how to help baby latch, tips and tricks of the trade, and more.
This class will also include a session dedicated to being taught exclusively in Spanish at both Auburn and Grass Valley locations.
It Takes a Village
Breastfeeding can be difficult and mentally trying but you don’t have to do it alone. Talk to your provider for details on how to attend these classes. It takes a village to raise a child and you have yours with Chapa-De.
