Holiday Resources: Let’s Talk Turkey
The leaves are turning and that means that the holidays are just around the corner. Yet, many cannot afford the holiday extras that make it feel special like Thanksgiving dinners. Organizations in Placer and Nevada counties are ramping up resources to help make sure everyone gets a taste of the season. We know this time of year can be difficult and we want to connect you to resources that can help you get in the holiday spirit.

Placer County Holiday Resources:
Auburn Interfaith Food Closet – Turkey Distribution
Families in Central Placer County (from Loomis to Emigrant Gap and Lake of the Pines to Foresthill) can sign-up to request a free turkey. Birds are first-come, first-served so apply before the November 17th deadline. Visit AIFC online to register: https://auburnfoodcloset.org/
Salvation Army Auburn – Thanksgiving Dinners

Lighthouse Counseling and Family Resource Center – Annual Turkey Distributions
Everyone’s favorite festive bird will be available to Placer County residents in need on a first-ordered basis. Call 916-645-3300 to be added to the wait list.

Thanks To Give 2023, Free Thanksgiving meals delivered.
If you are alone on Thanksgiving, this meal might help make it special. Register online for a hot and free meal to be delivered to your door (limit 2 meals per household): https://thankstogive.com/request-a-meal
North San Juan Community Center, Thanksgiving Free Community Meal
Enjoy a free meal among your neighbors at this community gathering. Dinner is served from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Call 530-292-9525 to learn more.
Food Bank of Nevada County, Weekly Food Distributions
The Food Bank of Nevada County will be hosting an additional food distribution for the holiday on November 16th. Turkey is limited so be sure to arrive towards the start of the distribution. More information can be found online: https://foodbankofnc.org/
