National Prescription Drug Take Back Day April 30th

You Can Make A Difference!

Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic

Substance use and overdose continues to be a critical national epidemic. Locally, we have the second highest overdose rate in the state of California. This issue affects our communities and our families.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is April 30

  • According to the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, two-thirds of teens who misused pain relievers say that they got them from family and friends, including their home’s medicine cabinets.
  • In 2021, an estimated 4% of 12th graders reported misusing any prescription drug in the past 12-months. Sadly, misusing prescription drugs is one way that people develop substance use disorder and it can lead to using other substances. Learn more, HERE.
  • In 2021, a national survey showed that 10% of 8th graders, 19% of 10th Graders, and 32% of 12th graders reported using illicit drugs. The good news is that these numbers decreased compared to 2020 but there are still far too many youth becoming addicted and overdosing.
