On Saturday, September 7th, our community of patients, providers, neighbors, and friends gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Chapa-De Indian Health.
We welcomed our community to join us in a special Open House event at our Auburn Health Center on Atwood Road. Festivities included a performance by two-time Grammy Award-winning native flute artist Mary Youngblood.
There is great news out for Medi-Cal patients. Medi-Cal has expanded to now cover several new services and has a new Case Management program to help overcome challenges faced by many members. New Community Supports services can help address housing challenges, ensure members have a safe place to recuperate after leaving the hospital, and more.

However, if you need a referral or need to go to a hospital, that is where IHS coverage ends for most local native patients. This can leave you with unnecessary medical bills.
Please join us in welcoming our newest doctors! Residents Dr. Kelty White and Dr. Nick Sparr will be in Grass Valley full-time starting this week and will split their time between Chapa-De and Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. They will remain in the community with us for the next two years as they continue growing their skills and knowledge.
We are right in the middle of our first heat wave this summer, bringing fire warnings across the state and anxiety to our communities. The smoke from these wildfires is bad enough but the stress from emergencies like evacuations and knowing what to do if something like that happens can cause negative effects to your health.
