Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic
Do you or a family member currently have health coverage through Medi-Cal? Local Medi-Cal offices are reviewing every member’s eligibility this year. Everyone’s renewal date is different, but yours might be coming up soon. Here is what to do if you lose your Medi-Cal.
What If You Lost Your Medi-Cal?
If you think you were removed from Medi-Cal in error:
Contact your County! Even if you lost your Medi-Cal coverage, you might still qualify. There are many people who will lose coverage because of clerical issues. This can include missing renewal paperwork because of a change in address.
Contact your local county office to learn more about your options:
- Placer County – Call (888) 385-5160
- Nevada County – Call (530) 265-1340
- Sierra County – Call (530) 993-6720 OR (530) 289-3711
- Yuba County – Call (877) 652-0739
- Sacramento County – Call (916) 874-3100
- All other counties
If you no longer qualify for Medi-Cal:
It is time to look into other options. It is important to have healthcare coverage. When you are uninsured you have less access to care. You are also at financial risk if you are in an accident or need emergency or hospital care. Being uninsured can also harm your health if you delay getting the care you need due to the cost.
Look Into Insurance Coverage with Covered California
Covered CA insurance plans can be very affordable, and there are many options for savings and discounts. Learn more about your options at https://www.coveredca.com/.
Once you choose a plan, Covered CA can help you find a provider who will accept your new insurance. To have your Chapa-De healthcare records transferred to your new provider fill out and submit the Release of Information (ROI) form that can be found HERE.
Self-Pay Options at Chapa-De
Chapa-De Indian Health does not accept private medical insurance plans, including the plans offered through Covered CA. If you chose to continue receiving care at our health centers, it would be on a cash/self-pay status.
Often, Covered CA plans have limited or no adult dental coverage. Patients can continue to see our dental providers. You may qualify for our sliding fee scale program that offers a 25% or 50% discount off our fees based on income and family size.

AIAN Patients at Chapa-De
As an Indian Health Center, verified American Indian/Alaska Native Patients will always receive free care with us, regardless of insurance coverage or status. However, we recommend having insurance coverage in case you need care outside of our health center and the services we provide.
