Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic

The summer is flying by, and the start of the new school year will be here before we know it! Now is the perfect time to schedule sports physicals, immunizations, and well child checks. Get these accomplished now to reduce back to school stress and to set the whole family up for success this school year.

Sports Physicals

Sports Physicals help make sure it is safe for your child to participate in sports. During the visit, your child’s medical provider will review their medical history, ask a series of health questions, and conduct a physical exam. This is also a good opportunity to ask questions about health, exercise, and sports.

Immunizations

Keeping your child up to date on their immunizations will help protect their health during the school year. Immunizations (also known as vaccines) introduce the body to a small amount of a dead or weakened germ that is known to cause a certain disease or illness. This way the body learns how to stop the disease and keep you protected.

Free Immunization Catch Up Events for Chapa-De patients ages 10-13 are coming up on July 19th and 20th. Schedule an appointment today! Free immunization appointments are also available for all Chapa-De patients ages 18 and younger every Tuesday and Thursday. Call for more information.

Depending on the age, regular childhood immunizations can include:

  • Tdap vaccine
  • HPV vaccine
  • Meningococcal vaccine
  • Hepatitis vaccine
  • Chickenpox vaccine
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccines (MMR)
  • Flu vaccine
  • COVID-19 vaccine

Well Child Checks

Regular Well Child Checks allow your child’s medical provider to monitor their growth and development. They will share information about healthy growth and preventing illness. Parents and older children should also ask questions and share concerns during these visits.

As children get older, these appointments change to fit their appropriate needs; however, the goal is always to:

  • Promote good health and overall wellbeing
  • Provide information about expected milestones and upcoming changes
  • Monitor any ongoing concerns or conditions
  • Detect any new issues and prevent future health concerns

We encourage parents to write down any questions they might have and bring them to the appointment. Providers can help parents feel informed and confident about their child’s health and wellness.
