Meet Our Team – Elise Zink
Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic
The team at Chapa-De consists of many different roles. From doctors and nurses to care coordinators and administrative assistants. Our team evolves to meet the needs of the community. One of our new roles is the COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinator. Elise Zink joined the Chapa-De team as the Pediatric Care Coordinator at our Grass Valley health center. She is an RN and is serving as the COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinator for Chapa-De.
Working in the healthcare industry during COVID-19 has held many challenges. Chapa-De strives to offer a respectful and supportive environment for team members. This includes providing support for Elise and other unique roles. “One of the things I most appreciate about working at Chapa-De is that staff are respected, and ideas are heard,” Elise said. “I have never felt embarrassed suggesting a ‘wild’ idea.”
The COVID-19 Vaccination Program at Chapa-De thrives through teamwork. Elise plans Chapa-De’s large vaccine events and serves as a vaccinator but says teamwork is essential to the program’s success. She said, “There is not one part of it that I can do on my own.”
Elise has been with the Chapa-De team for just over a year. One of her daily tasks is to keep up to date on vaccine information. She works to educate our staff on the vaccines and any updates or changes to the available research. These efforts ensure our patients receive the most accurate information. “Working on COVID vaccines is kind of like nailing jello to a wall. Things are always changing, always adjusting,” Elise said. “We are always trying to keep ahead of the variants and the misinformation.”
At Chapa-De, we understand that there are people in the community that are nervous about the vaccine. Some people think that it was developed too quickly. Or they are concerned about adverse side effects. It is understandable that people might worry, but the vaccine is safe and effective at protecting you from COVID-19. During vaccine clinic days, Elise works directly with patients to administer vaccines and provide support. She shares information and answers questions to help patients feel comfortable with their experience. On other days, she helps schedule vaccine appointments by making outreach calls to eligible patients. Elise enjoys working with Chapa-De and the communities we serve. She said, “I have always appreciated the honesty of our patient population and the trust they have put in us to give them high quality, safe, thoughtful care.”
Elise Zink holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Samuel Merritt University. She also has a bachelor’s degree in Social Science, focusing on Child Development from Chico State University.
