Childhood Development
Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic
Childhood is a very important time in a person’s life. From learning to walk and talk all the way to puberty and beyond, there are many important milestones. And as we prepare to go back to school, it is important to make sure your child is doing well!
The Importance of Wellbeing
The physical and mental health of a child is critical to their overall wellbeing. The COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on many of us, especially children. It is crucial that we ensure children are set up to succeed as we emerge from the pandemic.
Soon children will be returning to the classroom, some for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is the perfect time to ensure they are up to date on all required healthcare needs including immunizations, screenings and sports physicals. Ensuring all adolescents age 12 and over are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will also protect these children and help ensure schools remain open throughout the Fall and Winter.
Well Child Checks
We encourage patients to get a Well Child Check each year. The annual appointments are a chance for providers to check a child’s growth and development. By having these appointments each year, medical providers will be able to see how a child is developing over time. Well Child Checks focus on:
- Existing health concerns
- Disease prevention
- Health recommendations
- Education
Well Child Checks include a few different exams and tests, including:
- Physical exams
- Height & weight
- Hearing tests
- Vision tests
Well Child Checks are also a chance to make sure your child is up to date on their immunizations. In addition, we recommend scheduling annual dental appointments for children to promote whole person healthcare.
