Food For The Holidays

Chapa-De Indian Health Auburn Grass Valley | Medical Clinic

More and more individuals and families are turning to our local food pantries for help. Skyrocketing prices on fuel, food, and necessities are making it very difficult for community members living on a tight budget. Need is expected to be especially high this holiday season.

How You Can Help!

Chapa-De is hosting food drives to benefit the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet and Interfaith Food Ministry in Grass Valley. If you are interested in participating and helping our neighbors, non-perishable food donations will be accepted at any of our Chapa-De locations from October 17th to November 4th.

You can also support our local food closets or regional food bank directly:

We thank you for your generosity!

What To Do If You Are Experiencing Food Insecurity

If you are experiencing food insecurity or need help to afford healthy foods, know that it is okay to seek assistance. There are resources available to help put food on the table for you and your family.

The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet provides nutritious food to individuals and families living in Central Placer County, from Loomis to Emigrant Gap and Lake of the Pines to Foresthill. They provide enough groceries to make 9 meals for each member of the household. Clients may visit the Food Closet once every month (30 days). They also have special programs such as turkey giveaways at Thanksgiving and a Homebound Delivery Program that delivers groceries once a month to low income homebound seniors.

Interfaith Food Ministry works to reduce food insecurity in Nevada County by feeding the hungry while helping to sustain good health and human dignity. Each individual or family may receive community donated food once a week. They operate via drive-through and are open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am – 1 pm and every Saturday from 10am – 12:00pm.
